Donna Brune

Donna Brune has drawn and painted since childhood, but began formal art studies as a young adult. She worked primarily in oil and pastels but later turned to watercolor for health reasons. Her art and design skills were helpful in her career in horticulture for both floral and landscape design. She now works in watercolor, acrylic, collage, and mixed water media. Donna has always been fascinated by the landscape around her wherever she is. She loves working in watercolor on various surfaces because it gives her freedom and spontaneity to create how she feels about her subject. When she was younger she painted in a more realistic style and sometimes still does, but now she often sees the landscape in a more impressionistic, and even abstract way. She is more drawn by the colors and shapes she sees. Donna lives with her husband and dogs on their farm in Rappahannock County.
