Biography
Jill Brabant is an oil painter from Manassas, Virgina who captures precious moments in time, the color of light and the delicate nature of petals.
She received her B.F.A from Rochester Institute of Technology and her 25-year career in graphic design has influenced her compositions. She obtained a teaching certificate in Art from Regent University and ultimately the allure of oil painting brought her back to fine art.
As a dedicated gardener, Jill’s inspiration is from the natural world—the curves of petals and shifting light on blooms. Her work, primarily representational, employs the alla prima technique, combining a variety of tools like brushes, palette knives, and sgraffito marks to create paintings that are imbued with texture and life. Jill’s process is intuitive, and compositions are built brushstroke by brushstroke, each painting evolving organically with rich impasto or delicate glazes to enhance the unique character of her floral subjects.
Jill’s work has appeared in numerous exhibits and can be found in private art collections, both in the United States and abroad. Her involvement extends to teaching, and she seeks to share skills and joy with new generations. She is a member of Oil Painters of America—where she was the recipient of the Shirl Smithson OPA Scholarship, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, American Impressionist Society, The Loudoun Sketch Club and The Artists in Middleburg.
Jill’s paintings invite viewers into her enchanted garden: a visual celebration of nature’s richness, rendered through a combination of classical skill and heartfelt wonder.
