The artist has been influenced by several generations of artists in the family. He was privileged to see the collection of six foot Constable works at the Smithsonian museum of modern art which made a permanent impression and was inspired to create art as a form of relaxation and escapism from everyday life. Since then, watercolor has become a genuine passion. Working with a medium that allows the artist to reflect the light and sense of a place allows a great deal of flexibility, taking a scene and distilling the essence of what makes it special. A background in technical drawing which helps to capture a realistic perspective while the translucent quality of watercolor which allows for layering colors to bring out hidden details of color and light.
