I graduated from Pompano Beach, Florida, Senior High School in 1960. In that year I took an art class as an elective, and was introduced to water color painting. I wasn’t very good at it but I was enjoying the challenge of learning the techniques and strategies. After graduating I did not try it again until 1971. I spent 4 months trying to create one picture, because I had not yet developed the necessary skills yet. It was frustrating. I put the paints and brushes away for 60 years. I tried again with a painting of a red barn on a dismal snowy day. It was praised by family and friends, and someone wanted to purchase it. Wow! I guess I must have some talent. I took an online art class for a few weeks and learned techniques and strategies of watercolor painting. I then was honored to have my graduation painting, and another, to be selected by the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to be hung on their walls for a few months. It was then that watercolor painting became more than a hobby for me.
