Constance Fisher

Constance Belle Fisher, BWS, VWS is a Clarke County, Shenandoah Valley artist. Although born in the foothills of Western Pennsylvania, she has lived in rural Northern Virginia for over 40 years. Ms. Fisher has an instinctive affinity for creative artistic expression. She studied at the Carnegie-Mellon College of Fine Arts, and after moving to Baltimore, at the Maryland Institute College of Art, the Community College of Baltimore, Towson University and Johns Hopkins University. She worked at Hopkins as an assistant illustrator in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine before moving to Virginia. The focus of her art is on Expressionism. The difference between Expressionism and Abstract Art is that Expressionism does not necessarily abandon all figural or representational elements. It can often use elements of abstraction to create an emotional effect and may utilize diverse techniques to convey nontraditional and nonrepresentational images. She is particularly influenced by many artists, abstract expressionists, and by the French Impressionists. She views her art as works that create a lasting image of the ever-changing world around us, which she interprets with romantic, lyrical, and multi-hued images Her art is filled with mood and movement. Her paintings are in private collections across the country and she often donates her artwork to fund raising and charitable activities. She is a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS) and the Virginia watercolor Society (VWS) Many of her paintings are now available as limited edition giclée prints and may be viewed on her website, www.NorthlightArtStudio.net .
