Valerie began painting at the age of 68. Since then she has painted over dog and cat portraits in acrylics many of which can be seen on instagram at Valeriethedogpainter. She has also branched out into pet portraits in watercolor and landscapes in soft pastels.
She is a member of the Maryland Pastel Society, the Sykesville Painting Club, and the Carroll County Arts Council. In addition to painting she is an avid photographer. She recently had an exhibition of 40 of her works at the Ruth Dodge Art Gallery in Sykesville, Maryland.
