Jaz Draper

Edinburg, VA based artist Jaz Draper, became fascinated by mosaics while visiting internationally known artist Josephine Alexander in her home and studio in PA in 2020. Josephine agreed to teach Jaz and remains a friend and mentor today. The magic of creating beauty from broken glass, ceramics, and jewelry captured Jaz’s imagination and sparked an enthusiasm for working with many different substrates, from cement board to old windows and mirrors to guitars. Jaz finds inspiration in the beauty of nature and the insight of mythology and strong women figures. Jaz’s mosaics focus on color and texture provided by the use of stained glass, glass baubles, beads, ceramics, jewelry, shells, and in some cases fabric.
