Edward Cooper

Mr. Cooper has painted all his life and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from which he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and illustration. He worked for many years in the art field as a graphic artist and illustrator. After retirement he painted full time as a plein air landscape painter. Many of his larger studio paintings are based on his smaller pleinair sketches.

He has participated in many painting competition and won numerous prizes, most notably:  Paint Anapolis, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Urban Landscape Award,  Marine Landscape Award,  Award of Merit and Award of Excellence;  Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival, Easton, MD. Honorable Mention, Third Place;  Art for the Parks, National Park Academy of the Arts, Bronze Medal - Landscape Art Award;  "Realism Today", National Competition, American Artist, October 2000, First Prize Landscape Category.

His work has also appeared in several publications.  "American Plein Air Painters in Normandy", American Artist, Nov 2005 pp 34-45 and Nature Conservancy, "En Plein Air:  Landsscape Painters Interpret Conservancy Preserves", Spring 2008, pp 52-64.
